10 genius homemade birthday cakes for kids

So you have your heart set on creating a Zumbo masterpiece for your kids birthday party. You’ve scoured Pinterest and talked yourself into this. Then, three days out from the big day, panic sets in. Who are you kidding, you can’t bake, let alone decorate a cake!!! Don’t panic – take a look at these genius kids birthday cake hacks.

Make things easy on yourself and pre-buy a plain cake to decorate. If you decide to bake your own cake, stick with a simple recipe and a solid cake such as a mud cake. Most importantly, wait until the cake is completely cooled before decorating. Frosting and decorations will completely melt away if your cake is even remotely warm.

Remember, your kids will love it regardless. Good luck!
