The 12 Books of Christmas Advent Calendar

Our new family tradition this year is The 12 Books of Christmas Advent Calendar. We have 12 books individually wrapped and will open one for our son’s bedtime story each night the 12 days leading up to Christmas, ending Christmas eve.

If you’re after something different from the usual chocolate advent calendar, give this a try. It tops up the kids book collection, adds to their love of books and is a really nice way to build up to Christmas.

Gathering 12 books for the ‘advent calendar’ was easy, I just picked them up during sales the months leading up to Christmas. You can even do this for an extended period of time – the whole 30 days of December, or if funds don’t allow, maybe just 5 days of Christmas. It really is up to you to make ‘The Books of Christmas Advent Calendar’ your own tradition.

I think it’s a lovely way to enjoy the simple pleasure of books in a sometimes over-commercialised time of year.
